The Federal Government  has called on the organized private and public sectors to key into the National Technology Action Plan (TAP) to achieve carbon emission development strategies for Nigeria.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mrs. Monilola Udoh made the call in Abuja during a validation workshop on Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) and Associated Action Plan for Climate Change.

A Statement signed by Atuoara Obed, a Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry quoted

Mrs. Udoh as saying the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) is a great roadmap toward eliminating carbon emissions in Nigeria.

Mrs Udo described TAP as one of the activities lined up for the actualization of Technology Needs Assessment (TNA), geared toward climate change mitigation and adaptation in Nigeria’s vulnerable economic sector.

She stated that the Ministry of Science and Technology has commenced the official validation exercise in 2020 to actualize the mandate of Nigeria’s climate change and adaptation

following the 2015 Paris Agreement which Nigeria is a signatory. She explained that the successful collection of inputs through the just concluded regional workshops and its reports on selected and prioritized technologies for each sector will lead to the National Technology Action plan when it is approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Earlier, the Head of Environmental Science Technology, Dr. Peter Ekwueozor in his remarks stated that the essence of the workshop was to validate all resolutions made to enable Nigeria to develop a National Technology Action Plan which will lead to the verification of all sectors of the economy and as well attract foreign and local investments into the economy.
