To tackle food insecurity and boost mechanised agriculture in Nigeria, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has  given priority attention to early completion of construction works on Agricultural Machinery and Equipment  Development Institutes(AMEDIs) in the six geo-political zones of the country.

A visit to Kebbi State reveals that works have reached advanced stage at the on-going construction of AMEDI in Birnin-Kebbi by NASENI

AMEDI Birnin-Kebbi is one of the emerging agricultural development institutes of the Agency being built in each geo-political zone with the sole mandate to enhance agricultural mechanization, food security, job and wealth creation.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team led by the Acting Director, Natural and Physical Sciences, NASENI, Mr. Ado Galadima carried out an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing projects in the state from February 19-20, 2025.

The team was shown round the project site by AMEDI Project Manager, Engineer Umar Abdullazeez and representative of the consultant, Grandscape Residence’s Limited, Engineer Hassan Adavize Abdulraheem.

The new institute which sits on 10 hectares of land has eight different projects awarded in phases and are ongoing.

The phase one projects include the Administrative Building, Perimeter Fencing and Gatehouse, Assembly workshop, Water Supply project and first Workshop. The phase two projects include the Virtual Reality Laboratory, second Workshop, Warehouse and the internal network road construction.

According to the contractors handling the various projects, Engineer Kennedy Agbanwedikeizu and Architect Aminu Ibn Musa, in no distant time, the projects would be completed and handed over to the Agency.

The M & E team also visited the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre (NSAC), Bagudo, Kebbi State, where four projects are ongoing.

The representative of the consultant, Gimba & Partners, Engr. Babalaga Ahmed conducted the team round the project site.

Ongoing constructions include the Administrative Building, the Workshop buildings, Agricultural Training Centre, the Perimeter Fence and the Gatehouse.

Speaking on the timeframe for the completion of the entire projects, Engr. Babalaga assured that since materials are available, it would take the next two months for the completion and handing over of the Skill Acquisition Centre to the Agency.
