NIDCOM MOVE TO PARTNER WITH TETFUND TO EXPLORE DIASPORANS’ CONTRIBUTIONS TO S&T IN NIGERIA

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has called for closer working relationship with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to attract more funds from Nigerians in Diapora to boost research and development in Nigeria

Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa spoke in Abuja while on a courtesy visit to TETFund office

Statement by Mr. Gabriel Odu of the Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit NIDCOM said Dr. Dabiri-Erewa was in the office of the TETFund Boss to intimate him on the commission’s agenda to tap into the pool of diasporans’ wealth of experience in the area of science and technology and innovations in the country

In his response, the Executive Secretary of TETFund Mr. Sonny Echono assured the NIDCOM boss of Tetfund’s readiness to fund education centres and facilities for the Diasporans to encourage and promote exploits by the Diaspora Community.

He appreciated Dr. Abike for the efforts in harnessing the potential of the Nigerian Diaspora, stating that the partnership between the two organizations will initiate, promote and assist the Diaspora in bringing back home modern research and innovation into science and technology in Nigeria

“With a conscious policy supporting Diaspora engagements, it is time for transformative actions. Undoubtedly, Nigeria is ripe to domesticate the knowledge and impact of its Diaspora”, he insisted.
