With 35 products manufactured in a period of one year  and many others in the markets, the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has  tasked the Nigerian media to look inward and partner with the agency to promote sale of Nigerian made goods.

The NASENI boss urged the media to realize that the technological growth of the nation will also impact positively on the growth of the media industry in Nigeria

To this end, Mr Khalilu called for a robust partnership and promise to leverage on the new synergy with the media to advance Nigeria’s science, technology, and innovation goals.

The EVC stated this while declaring  open a 3-day training workshop for online media practitioners and staff writers in the agency’s Information, New Media, and Protocol (INP) unit, held  at NASENI Headquarters located in  Idu Industrial District of Abuja.

Speaking on the theme of the workshop tagged “Enhancing Effective Delivery of Communication Objectives in a Changing Digital Environment,”  the NASENI boss said “the workshop reflects NASENI’s commitment to equipping its media team and partners with the tools and skills needed to tell the agency’s story effectively in a rapidly evolving digital age.

Welcoming participants to the workshop,, the Director of Information, New Media, and Protocol (INP), Mr. Segun Ayeoyenikan, lauded the EVC’s unwavering support for the media advocacy, emphasizing its pivotal role in promoting NASENI’s mandate.

The Director described Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, as a “goal-getter,” who has not only prioritized media engagement as a cornerstone of his leadership strategy but has under one year  introduced transformative initiatives, including the launch of the NASENI Strategic Launchpad 2024-2027, which outlines the agency’s goals and objectives.

*The EVC’s dynamic leadership has already resulted in the introduction of 35 new NASENI-branded products in the market and the initiation of 56 innovative projects—all within a year

“Recognizing the power of the media, the EVC has strategically cultivated partnerships with key stakeholders in the information ecosystem. Just three weeks ago, he met with 25 senior media executives, including editors and bureau chiefs from prominent media outlets.

“The event served as an opportunity to showcase NASENI’s achievements and share the EVC’s vision for leveraging science and technology to drive Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.

Mr Ayeoyenikan said the workshop marks a significant step in NASENI’s strategy to harness the potential of new media, stressing that the training is a direct response to the challenges posed by the fast-changing digital landscape.

“It is imperative that we stay abreast of the latest trends, ethics, and tools, including global best practices, in doing our job”

Over the course of three days, participants will engage with expert facilitators, sharing experiences and learning how to effectively communicate NASENI’s mission.

“Our job is to reshape the minds of Nigerians to embrace the spirit of collaboration in building a nation of prosperity through science, technology, and innovation,” Ayeoyenikan stated.

In his remarks, the Lead Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Fort Realm Global Limited said the workshop aims to build the capacity of NASENI’s Information and Communication team and its media partners, equipping them with the strategic skills necessary to design and implement robust communication strategies, including social media plans, to enhance the Agency’s public outreach.

The goal of this workshop according to him, is to strengthen the institutional capacity of NASENI’s Public Relations team and online media writers, helping them to project the Agency’s achievements, particularly in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for science and engineering.
