Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. (Sen.) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora (2nd right), being decorated, honorary “Fellow of the Institute” by the Board Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), Elder Olu – Ajayi Michael (2nd left), Director-General, NISLT Mr. Yemi Gbadegesin (left), Director Chemical Technology Department, Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (FMSTI), Mr. M. E. J BASSEY (right), and Vice Chairman Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Mr. Gberindyer James (2nd left), during Facility Tour by the Hon. Minister to the Institute (NISLT) today in Ibadan.

The Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Dr.  Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora has made case for increased investment in the Science Laboratory Technology Sector to boost innovation and revenue generation, job creation, and self-reliance in the country.

The Minister stated that the nation cannot make any meaningful economic progress without investing in the Science Laboratory Technology Sector

To this end, the Minister has promised more budgetary allocation to  the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology  (NISLT), located in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Dr. Adeleke said this in Ibadan during his one-day working visit to the NISLT office.

He stated that the Institute has performed well despite financial constraint and other challenges militating against the desired progress of the organization, assuring that government will improve the fund allocation to the Institute

The Minster charged the institute to prioritize its projects and programs to save funds for implementation of other important projects.

The Minister was at the event given the Honorary Award of the ‘Fellow of the Institute’.

Earlier, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the NISLT, Gbadegesin Yahaya said that the institute had various challenges including poor funding, noting that

“inadequate funding has jeopardized NISLT’s prompt desire to achieve its mandate”

He called on the minister to assist in improving the budgetary allocation to the institute by the Federal Government.
