The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has urged private corporations in the research and engineering sector to leverage on its over 35 developed products to commence mass production for both local and international markets

Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NASENI Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu said NASENI as an enabler is committed to technological growth and development of the nation through patronage and utilisation of locally manufactured products.

Mr Halilu who spoke in Abuja on Wednesday said with over 400 engineers recruited, NASENI has not only developed products that would compete favourably with foreign goods but has also provided the desire support for commercialisation of the outcome of it several researches and products

Khalilu who was represented Mr Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, Director Media and Information unit of NASENI spoke while showcasing products of the agency at the on-going 19th Abuja International Trade Fair

Speaking with journalists, the EVC said “NASENI is the  only purposely built Agency of the Federal Government with the mandate to carry out research and development (R&D), production, reverse engineering and actual manufacturing in the areas of capital goods, machines, spares and equipment and make the economy of the country possess home-grown capacities for genuine industrialization and sustainable development”

Mr Halilu said under his leadership in the last one year, NASENI has been transformed for better service delivery, and more focus on accelerated technology transfers and domestication of technologies which he said has taken centre stage in the agency

The breakthrough, according to NASENI boss has led to the achievement of more products and technologies to be handed over to SMEs and other end-users in Nigeria, adding that “this year’s NASENI participation at the annual Abuja International Trade Fair organized by Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) is a means to foster the agency’s 3C’s principle of Creation, Collaboration and Commercialization and to showcase some technological and innovative prowess of NASENI to the world”

The general goals/objectives of participating in the trade Fair according to him, include: to among other things create more awareness about the NASENI brand and increase patronage for the agency’s products

“During our previous participation, we exhibited research products and innovation to stakeholders, SMEs and the general public. We won several awards and also secured engagements with stakeholders and technology end-users which are indications that NASENI had created a niche for itself in this important event” Halilu said

He listed technologies and products displayed at the fair to include: NASENI Transformer, NASENI CNG Conversion Centre, Utako, Abuja, NASENI Solar CCTV Automatic Change Over Switch, Solar Kit Trainer, Science kits, Rotary Furnace, Digital Road sign  Animal Feeds Science Automatic Model Solar Kid trainer  amongst others
