Muhammad Kaumi Bashir, an 11-year-old Nigerian from Borno State in northern Nigeria, who is said to have invented a generator is reportedly a first-year secondary school student.

The intelligent and inquisitive boy whose dream is to become an electrical engineer is already taking steps in the direction of his ambition.

Mallama Yakaka Kaumi, Bashir’s mother, claims that her son began showcasing his creative genius in electronic and mechanical fabrications at the young age of five.

The family is aware of Bashir’s dream to become a world renowned electrical engineer and his commitment thereto even at this tender age.

“He is passionate about founding a sizable electrical engineering firm and using it to address the nation’s power crisis”, the mother said.

Muhammad’s mother has turned to the government and other investors for support to enable her son realize his ambition due to the family’s inability to finance this dream.

Information available says, Muhammad hopes to become an electrical engineer to help the nation solve its long-standing power crisis especially in Maiduguri that has had electrical issues for more than two years. On a second note, his father’s financial incapability to install a solar panel spurred this dream.

He stated therefore, “I decided to make my own generator that uses no gasoline and can power light bulbs.”

Nigerian youths are steadily carving a niche for themselves in the areas of technology, innovation, research and manufacturing and it is only responsible for the government to support them.
